A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping across all regions of Bangladesh,  according to the met office.

A mild to moderate heatwave is affecting Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in its Friday morning weather bulletin.

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely in one or two places in Sylhet division with hails in some areas.

The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies elsewhere.

The highest temperature in the country on Thursday was 39.5 degrees Celsius in

Ishwardi and Friday’s lowest temperature was 24 degrees, in Tetulia.

Rajshahi saw the most rain, at 3mm, in the 24 hours till 6am on Friday.

Day and night temperatures may remain stable across the country.

Due to an increase in moisture incursion, discomfort may persist, the weather office said.
