Of the injured, 10 rubber bullet injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
According to police and the injured, on Wednesday night, an argument took place between Reba, Hafsa – daughters of Sanu Mia of Dhal village – and Shefali – daughter of Akbar Mia of the same village, over watching the drama serial aired on Star Jalsha at Shakur restaurant in Dhal Bazar.
Later, the family members of Sanu and Akbar also joined the quarrel that left five people injured that night.
Though they were calmed down by local influential people that time, both the group engaged in severe clash with local sharp weapons on a play ground beside the bazaar next morning.
The clash continued from 6am to10am, disrupting vehicular movements on the Habiganj-Lakhai road. The clashing groups also vandalised several vehicles and shops.
Later, a team of Sadar police station led by Officer-in-charge Yasinul Haque rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control by firing nine rounds rubber bullets and five rounds tear shells and baton charging.
The OC said police had been deployed in the area to avert further clash.
