In the question-answer session of the National Parliament on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed concerns regarding potential power disruptions during Tarabi prayers and Sehri in Ramadan, assuring that there will be no load shedding during these crucial religious observances.
Responding to a query from Abul Kalam MP of Natore-1 constituency regarding uninterrupted power supply during Tarabi prayers, PM Hasina acknowledged the challenges posed by the global rise in prices of commodities, including oil, LNG, and transport.
The prime minister emphasized the government’s substantial investment in electricity generation and its commitment to subsidizing distribution.
Acknowledging occasional hurdles in power generation due to factors such as fuel shortages and mechanical issues, Sheikh Hasina affirmed the government’s proactive stance to ensure continuous electricity supply during Tarabi and Sehri.
She mentioned that while load shedding might be implemented for two to three hours during periods of lower demand to conserve electricity, the measures taken would be at a manageable level, with no compromise on electricity availability.
The prime minister underscored the government’s ongoing efforts to mitigate challenges related to fuel shortages and maintain consistent power generation.
She reassured the public that the commitment to providing uninterrupted electricity during the essential religious practices of Tarabi and Sehri would be upheld, and any necessary load shedding would be implemented judiciously to avoid significant disruptions.
