A mobile court has sentenced a Chicken trader to six months imprisonment and fined Tk50,000 for selling dead chicken at Pirojpur’s Mathbaria.
The accused was identified as Golam Mostafa.
Mathbaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Abdul Kaiyum conducted the mobile court around 3pm on Monday.
The UNO said: “Acting on a tip-off, a team of police raided Golam Mostafa's chicken shop adjacent to the old fish market in Mathbaria town and seized some dead chickens.
“The accused confessed to the crime and was sentenced through a mobile court under Section 52 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009. At this time, the dead chickens were buried under the ground,” he added.
