Police have arrested six female drug dealers after conducting raids at different places of Tejgaon police station in Dhaka Monday night.
The arrestees are Sonia Akhter, 27, Moshammat Malni, 24, Moshammat Subarna, 19, Sohagi Begum, 23, Moshammat Mim, 23, and Salma.
Tejgaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad confirmed the information.
He said: "Six drug dealers from the Tejgaon area were arrested. They travel around to sell drugs. Although they reside in Tejgaon, their drug business is spread across various locations, including Kamalapur, Shyamoli, Karwan Bazar, and along the Mohakhali railway line. Each of them had been arrested multiple times. However, they have re-engaged in the drug trade after managing to get out on bail each time.
“An arrest warrant was recently issued against them. Acting on a tip-off, they were arrested last (Monday) night during raids conducted at various locations within the Tejgaon police station's jurisdiction,” he further added.
There are 11 cases against Salma, five cases against Mim, four cases against Sohagi, two cases against Sonia and Malni, and there is one case against Subarna.
