Salman Fazlur Rahman, former private industry and investment adviser to the prime minister, was elected on Sunday in Dhaka-1 constituency (Dohar-Nawabganj) of the 12th national parliamentary election.
He received 150,005 votes, according to unofficial result figures, while his closest competitor, Salma Islam of Jatiya Party, received 34,930 votes.
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Anisur Rahman announced this result on Sunday night.
