Chandrima Chowdhury, a student in the pharmacy department of the University of Asia Pacific, is missing following the Benapole Express fire in the capital’s Gopibagh Friday night.
Family members are visiting various hospitals in search of Chandrima, having last spoken to her half an hour before the fire incident.
However, despite their efforts, Chandrima has not been located since the fire.
On Saturday, her family members visited the emergency department of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery to inquire about her.
Anindya Pal, Chandrima's cousin, said: “On the day of the incident, Chandrima boarded the Benapole Express to Dhaka at around 6:30pm. After that, I talked to her family several times. A call to her phone number after the fire was found to be busy. Since then, her phone has been switched off, and no trace is available.”
Anindya mentioned that Chandrima was studying at her elder brother's house in the Farmgate area of the capital and added: “Since last (Friday) night, we have been searching all the surrounding hospitals, including Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, and Mugda Medical College Hospital. Even after going to the hospital morgues, I could not find her.”
On Friday night, miscreants set fire to the Benapole Express train in Gopibagh area of the capital.
Four deaths have been reported.
At this time, seven units of fire service went and brought the fire under control.
