A grocery store fell victim to an elephant attack in Anwara upazila, Chittagong, prompting shop owner Md Abdul Hakim to file a complaint at the local police station.

The incident occurred early Sunday in the Amur area of Madhyam Guapanchak village of Bairag union.

Md Abdul Hakim, owner of a semi-pucca shop in the area, said that the sudden elephant attack took place around 5am.

He recounted: "While I was asleep in the shop, the elephant struck, breaking the shop's grill. Although I managed to escape unharmed upon awakening, the elephant damaged my shop's rice, wheat, sugar, flour, and husks, resulting in a substantial loss of about Tk1.5 lakh."
