Lt Gen Saiful becomes colonel commandant of EME Corps

  • Induction ceremony completed following military customs, traditions
  • Delivered his orientation speech

Quartermaster-General (QMG) Lieutenant General Md Saiful Alam has taken charge as the 11th “Colonel Commandant” of EME Corps of the Bangladesh Army.

The induction ceremony was completed following military customs and traditions at the parade ground of EME Centre and School in Syedpur Cantonment on Thursday.

During the ceremony, the senior captain and master warrant officer of EME Corps conferred the “Colonel Commandant” rank badge on the quartermaster general of the Army.

At the start of the ceremony, the newly appointed colonel commandant was accorded a formal salute as he arrived at the parade square.

A smart team of EME Corps gave him a "Guard of Honour".

Through this, the quartermaster general of the Bangladesh Army as "Colonel Commandant" assumed the responsibility of the guardian of the EME Corps as per the traditional military practice.

The newly appointed colonel commandant delivered his orientation speech to all present at the event.

At the beginning of the speech, he paid deep respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

At the same time, he remembered the freedom fighters including the soldiers of EME Corps who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War.

At this time, he directed to continue the relentless efforts of all the members of the EME Corps in carrying out any responsibilities for building the nation through tenacity, professional skills, and above all, team effort while respecting the norms of the army.

The newly appointed Colonel Commandant Lt General Md Saiful Alam was commissioned in the Infantry Corps from the Bangladesh Military Academy with the 14th Long Term Course in 1986. He took charge as quartermaster general of Bangladesh Army on July 29, 2021.

In his 38 years of professional life, he has performed various important duties including command, staff, and trainer at all levels.

He served as commandant of Bangladesh Army School of Infantry and Tactics and Bangladesh Military Academy. He also served as director general of the Directorate General of Defence Intelligence (DGFI).
