The anticipation among the country’s youth was palpable as they prepared to pose questions to the premier of the country for the first time.

From the moment they arrived at the venue, they nervously awaited the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

However, their anxiety gave way to excitement when, upon taking her seat, the prime minister infused the atmosphere with humor.

Addressing the vibrant audience, which included scientists, transgender leaders, sports celebrities, and social media influencers, as well as a diverse group of high achievers dedicated to improving their communities, the Awami League president remarked, “It’s encouraging to see such an assembly of grandchildren.”

This interaction took place during the 52nd episode of the “Let’s Talk” series, orchestrated by the Center for Research and Information (CRI), a prominent nonprofit research organization.

Attendees, some of the brightest young minds in the country, lauded her struggles, achievements, and unwavering commitment to the nation as a source of inspiration that encourages bravery and the breaking of barriers.

Expressing their feelings after the session, many young participants noted that the prime minister appeared approachable and affectionate, almost like a family member.

They were excited about the chance to pose questions covering various national interests that impact the youth.

The country’s leading youth scientist, Sejuti Saha, who was privileged to moderate the event, described it as a lifetime experience.

Ranked among the top hundred scientists by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Asia, Sejuti and other accomplished individuals engaged in a face-to-face question-and-answer session with PM Hasina.

After the event, Sejuti shared her intense and fascinating evening on Facebook: “Spent an intense and fascinating evening.. Watching her engage so openly and honestly with the youth made two hours fly by.”

Despite facing social media criticism for her choice of attire at her workplace, Sejuti deemed the entire time spent with the prime minister as an enduring inspiration.

Sadat Rahman, Bangladesh’s first-ever winner of the 2020 International Children’s Peace Prize, praised the prime minister for her acumen, witty responses, and keen interest in addressing the challenges faced by the youth.

According to him, these qualities set her apart from any other leader in the country.

The dialogue session, set for airing next Friday, highlighted various critical issues.

Transgender rights activist Manisha Meem Nipun questioned the discriminatory attitudes towards her community and sought the prime minister’s plans to change traditional viewpoints.

Shahriar Babla, working with youth in a remote part of the country, raised concerns about the “double standards” in the US regarding conflicts in Palestine and Ukraine, and the “unjustified bullying” of smaller countries by major powers.

Arifur Rahman, founder of “Bhalo Kajer Hotel,” proposed making it mandatory for public servants to perform one good deed daily.

Tahsin Jahan, a university student and journalist, highlighted the need for safety measures for women at workplaces, suggesting the establishment of daycare centers.

Environmental activist Shamim Mridha criticized developed nations for not fulfilling their commitments to climate change, particularly affecting vulnerable countries like Bangladesh, at COP28.
