  • Eight people killed in Chennai
  • Sea ports asked to keep hoisted warning signal
Update : 05 Dec 2023, 02:33 PM

The severe cyclonic storm Michuang over west-central Bay was heading towards the coast of Andhra Pradesh via Chennai on Tuesday, due to which the sky is cloudy in most parts of Bangladesh.

Moreover, the country may see rain until Friday as a result of the cyclone, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Meanwhile, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports were asked to keep hoisted distant warning signal No 2 because of the weather at sea being rough.

At least eight people were killed in Chennai as storms lashed India's southeast coast, police said Tuesday, with Cyclone Michaung expected to make landfall within hours.

There is a chance of light rain or thundershowers along with brief gusty winds in a few locations in Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions. There will be partly cloudy skies and mostly dry weather elsewhere in the nation, the BMD said.

Daytime temperatures may rise marginally while nighttime temperatures may rise by one to two degrees Celsius.

Per the BMD’s notice, Cyclone Michuang was located 1,530km southwest of Chittagong sea port, 1,500km southwest of Cox's Bazar sea port, 1,345km southwest of Mongla sea port and 1,375km southwest of Payra sea port on Tuesday morning.
