Shanto-Mariam University recently held its third convocation-2023 at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal.
The convocation was arranged on November 13.
The purpose of a university is to inspire and guide the students to search and find their own ways, said eminent artist Professor Mostafizul Haque, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology.
He said these things at the third convocation ceremony of the university.
He hoped the graduates of Shanto-Mariam University would realize that success is not limited only to having a good degree or job, it is also important to work towards building an inclusive society where everyone would have fair opportunities to live.
Over 6,000 students were awarded graduation degrees at the third convocation of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, said a press release.
Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury presided over the ceremony on behalf of President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
Prof Dr Md Shah-E-Alam; Vice-Chancellor of SMUCT delivered his welcome speech in the program.
Professor Dr Biswajit Chanda; a Member of University Grants Commission (UGC), Professor Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman Bangladesh Accreditation Council were present in the program as special guests.
Prof Sheena M Falconer, former pro-vice chancellor; SMUCT and Registrar Dr Par Moshiur Rahman, also attended the program as convocation speakers.
They congratulated all the degree recipients and wished them success in pursuing their dream careers.
A total of 31 awards were presented in four categories at the ceremony, including the Chancellor's, Vice Chancellor's, and Board of Trustees' gold medals.
