Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken steps to ensure security in the transportation of goods and passengers during the nationwide blockade enforced by opposition parties.
The elite force has made contacts with the transport owners for distant destinations including Khulna or Bogra from Dhaka, said RAB's Director of Legal and Media Wing Khandaker Al Moin on Monday.
Eight to ten long distance buses will be gathered and escorted to specific destinations which will reduce the suffering of the traveling passengers, he said.
In addition, in a message sent to the media, RAB said that the force has conducted 460 patrols nationwide to prevent sabotage during the blockade.
Meanwhile, the opposition BNP on Monday announced another 48-hour blockade starting Wednesday morning as the party and its allies enforce a nationwide blockade set to end early on Tuesday.
After a rally on October 28 that was foiled by clashes with law enforcement, the BNP called a hartal the next day and subsequently announced a three-day countrywide blockade to protest attacks on its gathering and arrest of its senior leaders.
