Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday slammed individuals who critique her government and said she would shut everything down and observe the aftermath if they talk too much.
"If they talk too much, we will shut everything down and sit down. After the election, if I can come to power, I'll resume my work. Let's see who agrees to take over. I've got it all ready,” she said.
She made the comments at a press conference at Ganabhaban to brief the media about her recent trip to the United States for the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Referring to criticisms over the elections and forex reserves, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said: "After arranging everything, I have to hear their witty remarks about the election, voting, and the economy. I do not want to hear them."
Meanwhile criticizing the BNP, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said barking on the streets does not qualify a party as an opposition.
“In a democratic system, those who have MPs in the National Parliament are considered as the opposition party -- not those who bark on the streets. Everyone should remember this,” she said.
Regarding giving the BNP the chance to hold programs in the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said: “We have given them the chance to do whatever they want and win the people’s hearts through their works.”
