Besides, dirty water was spreading everywhere during the movement of vehicles.

Vehicular movement was disrupted due to waterlogging in front of the Mushroom Development Institute near the Savar bus stand on the Dhaka-Aricha highway.

The overflowing of drains was also causing immense suffering.

Meanwhile, water had submerged homes in some areas, including Palashbari, Baipail, Jamgora, Chitrashail, Vadail and Kaichabari of Savar, disrupting the daily lives of locals.

Neshar Uddin Khan, a trader at Baipail Karim Supermarket, said it had been raining since Thursday. “I put all my goods on the floor of the shop. In the morning when I came to my shop, I found that my shop was submerged in knee-deep water.”

Robin Chandra, a fish trader, said: “I have been awake since last night. We saw water seeping into our fish market. But there is nothing to do because water has submerged every place around us.”

Tongi-Ashulia-EPZ Road is an important entrance road to Dhaka. The road from the Baipail intersection to the Jamgora-Narsinghpur area has been knee-deep in rainwater since Thursday afternoon.

Kausar Hossain, a car driver, said: "I came from Dhaka this morning to go to my house in Jamgora. I found knee-deep water here. I have heard that there is water in various places on the road.”

Rabiul Awal, a resident of Palashbari's Bottola area, said: “Water has submerged most of the houses of the area.  There is no place for the accumulated water to go. There is water in the rooms and rain outside. In this situation, we are in big trouble.”

Savar Municipal Mayor Abdul Gani said the City Corporation is working in this regard. Measures are being taken to resolve the waterlogging.
