Rain is likely to occur in many places across Bangladesh’s southern region, including the port city, as well as other parts of the country.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Barisal and Chittagong divisions; at a few places in Dhaka and Sylhet divisions; and at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions, with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places in Barisal and Chittagong divisions, said a met office forecast effective for 24 hours from 9am on Wednesday.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
The highest temperature on Tuesday, 36.7 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Sitakunda and the lowest on Wednesday, 23.8 degrees, was recorded in Bandarban.
The highest rainfall was recorded at 66 millimetres in Bandarban.
The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
A low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours.
