Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Presidency University for a tenure of four years, effective from the date of his joining.
A ceremony was held to welcome the newly appointed vice-chancellor on Wednesday, in the presence of students, faculty members and staff of Presidency University, reads a press release.
At the same event, the outgoing acting vice-chancellor, Dr Mohammed Muniruzzaman, bid farewell.
Members of Presidency University wished both the departing and incoming vice-chancellors success in their future endeavours.
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury completed his BSc in 1977 and MSc in 1978 in Physics from Jahangirnagar University, securing first-class in all his examinations.
He obtained his PhD from Jadavpur University, India, in 1997. From 1999 to 2022, he served as a professor and chairman of the Department of Physics at Jahangirnagar University.
Born in Manikganj district, Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury is married and the father of two daughters
