Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Tuesday alleged that Chhatra Dal leaders are stockpiling weapons domestically, in anticipation of the upcoming national elections.
On the other hand, BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, are engaging in conspiratorial activities in Singapore.
"However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a courageous leader and Awami League will thwart all conspiracies and form the government again in the upcoming elections under her leadership,” he said while addressing a discussion meeting, commemorating National Mourning Day, held at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Dhaka.
The discussion program was arranged by the Dhaka North unit Chhatra League.
Highlighting recent incidents, Nanak said that six leaders of the Chhatra Dal were arrested with weapons a few days ago.
“Furthermore, weapons and molotov cocktails were confiscated from another central leader of Chhatra Dal last Monday night,” he said.
“Why are they stockpiling all these weapons?” Nanak questioned their motives.
