Update : 20 Aug 2023, 06:11 PM

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a protest program scheduled for Tuesday at each police station in Dhaka Metropolitan South.

The demonstration aims to demand the release of key opposition figures, including Member Secretary Rafiqul Alam Majnu and acting member secretary Tanveer Ahmed Robin.

BNP Metropolitan South convener Abdus Salam declared this protest during a press conference held at the BNP office in Naya Paltan on Sunday.

The announcement comes in response to the recent arrest of Tanveer Ahmed Robin, the acting member secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South.

Salam emphasized that a sense of fear has gripped the entire country, oppressing voices and causing widespread panic.

He questioned the rationale behind creating such panic, especially when cases are already being processed through the court system.

Salam also expressed concerns over the continued detention of many BNP leaders despite them being on bail.

Furthermore, he made reference to the activities of the Jubo League, a youth political organization associated with the ruling party.

He criticized the alleged acts of violence and intimidation orchestrated by Jubo League activists across the nation.
