Bus helper crushed to death by two buses in Dhaka

A bus helper died after being crushed by two buses at Syedabad Bus Terminal in Jatrabari of the capital.

The deceased is Suman Mia, 36, an assistant driver of a Red-Green bus.

Suman Mia succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the early hours of Sunday.

Shamsul Haque, a fellow bus driver who accompanied Suman Mia to the hospital, said: "Around 10:30pm yesterday (Saturday), our bus was undergoing wheel repairs at the Syedabad Bus Terminal. While Suman was in the process of removing the wheel and applying brake oil, an Econo Paribahan bus suddenly turned from behind, trapping him between the two buses and causing severe injuries."

Following the accident, Suman was rescued from the scene with critical injuries. He was initially taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Mugda General Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was subsequently admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 1am.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp, confirmed the incident's details. The deceased's body has been kept in the hospital morgue, and the relevant police station has been informed about the matter.
