Prime Minister's ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy has said the ruling Awami League government has ensured "transparency and accountability" in public service recruitment in Bangladesh.

"Under the premiership of Sheikh Hasina, the Awami League-led government has ensured transparency and accountability in public service recruitment, turning it into one of the most sought-after job opportunities for meritorious students," he said, following the announcement of the 41st BCS results recently.

The Public Service Commission recommended 2,520 candidates for appointment in the 41st BCS.

"But in the past the system was hit by unbridled corruption," Joy wrote on his Facebook page.

"During the last stint of BNP-Jamaat, between 2001 and 2006, all appointments for government jobs were allocated on the basis of bribery and political allegiance while no place for meritorious students.

"On impact, thousands of meritorious students did not get any job to serve their country despite holding excellent academic credentials," he wrote.

"Let’s revisit the infamous saga of unprecedented corruption eating up the recruitment process, courtesy of the BNP-Jamaat regime," he said, sharing a video.
