The price of 12kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been increased by Tk141.
From now, 12kg containers will be sold at Tk1,140 instead of Tk999, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) confirmed at a press briefing.
The new price will be effective from 6pm Wednesday evening.
According to the announcement, the retail price of private LPG has been set at Tk94.96 per kg at the consumer level.
Additionally, the retail price of privately supplied LPG in liquid state within the reticulated system has been established at Tk91.14 per kg.
Furthermore, the price of autogas for consumers has been fixed at Tk52.17 per litre.
In a previous adjustment, the cost of a 12kg cylinder was lowered by Tk75, decreasing from Tk1,074 to Tk999 in July.
In June, the price of a 12kg cylinder saw a reduction of Tk161, dropping from Tk1,235 to Tk1,074.
Prior to that, in May, the price of each 12kg cylinder was increased by Tk57, rising from Tk1,178 to Tk1,235.
In April, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) reduced the cost of a 12kg LPG cylinder from Tk1,422 to Tk1,178, marking a Tk244 decrease.
March witnessed a BERC-led reduction in the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder, moving from Tk1,498 to Tk1,422, reflecting a Tk76 reduction.
Back in February, the price of a 12kg cylinder of LPG was raised from Tk1,232 to Tk1,498.
BERC aligns the pricing of privately bottled LPG with Saudi Arabia's Aramco's contract prices for propane and butane, the primary components of LPG.
Bangladesh's annual LPG consumption stands at approximately 1,428,000 metric tonnes, with households accounting for around 84% of this consumption. The market is largely dominated by 29 private companies, encompassing about 99% of the sector.
