Update : 28 Jul 2023, 04:15 PM

Dhaka was drenched by intermittent monsoon rains on Friday afternoon, bringing some relief from the heat.

After a spell of rain early in the morning, the sun came out in most parts of the capital.

But within a few hours, the sky turned black again, and the capital city experienced light rain after 1pm.

Intermittent rains, triggered by active monsoon, may continue across the country, including in Dhaka, according to the met office.

Due to the low pressure intensified in the sea and monsoon winds, rains have started again in different parts of the country. After scorching heat in the last couple of days, this rain has brought relief.

Light to moderate rains occurred several times on Thursday in various areas of Dhaka.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, said a release from the met office.

Light to moderate rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions, with moderately heavy falls at places across the country.

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country.

In the last 24 hours, Sylhet logged the highest rainfall of 44mm. Besides, 6mm of rain was recorded in Dhaka, 1mm in Rajshahi, 3mm in Rangpur, 17mm in Mymensingh, 4mm in Chittagong, 24mm in Khulna and 18mm in Barisal.
