Bangladesh Ambulance Owners Welfare Association has called for an indefinite strike across Bangladesh from Monday.

The strike has been called to press home their six-point demand.

The demands of the association include that BRTA should stop charging income tax (ATI) from ambulances like private cars; policies for ambulances should be formulated; toll-free access to bridges, and ferries, Hospitals must provide ambulance parking facilities; arrangements must be made to take fuels without queues when carrying patients, harassment-free and smooth movement on the roads.

Earlier, Md Golam Mostafa, the association's president, said: "We feel cornered. Traffic police officers often harass us on the roads. After dropping off a patient at the hospital, we frequently face charges of illegal parking. Hospitals themselves lack adequate parking space for ambulances.”

Bangladesh Ambulance Owners Welfare Association recently issued a warning regarding the strike earlier.
