The fire at a dyeing factory named Holy Fabrics in Fatullah of Narayanganj was brought under control after two hours of effort early Monday.
Six fire service units worked to control the fire.
According to the fire service and local sources, the fire broke out in the dyeing factory at 1am. Soon afterwards, the fire spread all around.
Initially, the locals tried to bring the fire under control. Later, two fire service units arrived and started working to control the fire. Later, more units came and worked.
There were no casualties since there were no workers inside the factory.
Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Fakhar Uddin Ahmed said: “One of our workers was injured while dousing the fire. Factory machines and clothes were burnt. It caused a loss of more than Tk50 crore. After the investigation, it will be possible to say the exact amount of damage.”
The cause of the fire would be known after the investigation, he added.
