Police could not provide security to Ashraful Alom alias Hero Alom, the candidate of Dhaka-17 constituency, as he went to the same centre twice without informing the police.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruk made the remarks on Saturday afternoon.

He said: "Hero Alom and his followers were forcibly removed from the center due to issues within the premises. Hero Alom faced an attack by miscreants outside the centre. The culprits are being identified through the CCTV footage."

DMP Commissioner Faruk said: "The law and order situation has greatly improved in the last 15 years. Despite some challenges during the pandemic, traders now face no hindrance in their businesses. To sustain this positive scenario, maintaining good relations between the police and businessmen is crucial."

He further assured active police security for traders and said: “It is our responsibility to prevent oppression and harm to businesses. If you witness any issues, report to the police or call the National Emergency Service 999 for prompt action within 3 minutes.”
