Security has been beefed up in various busy points and areas of Dhaka as muggings have increased in recent times.
The filing of general diaries (GD) and cases has increased at various police stations in this regard.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) strengthened security in various areas including Sayedabad Bus Terminal, Demra, Jatrabari, Dholaipar, Shyampur, Wari, Sadarghat Launch Terminal and Mawa on Tuesday to ensure the travel and safety of Dhaka residents and to prevent muggings, RAB-10 chief Additional DIG Mohammad Farid Uddin said.
Law enforcement agencies are active across the country. Apart from this, detectives in plain clothes will be in the field.
The RAB officer said the post-Eid law and order situation in the country is normal. To ensure the travel and safety of people heading to Dhaka after the Eid holidays, two special shifts have been arranged to provide security in different areas.
Besides, special robust patrolling is being conducted, he added.
