The shooting took place between 14-Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and miscreants in Rohingya Camp No 17 of Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya.

A large quantity of weapons, bullets, walkie-talkies, mobiles, and multiple mobile SIMs have been seized at the time.

Cox's Bazar 14-APBn Captain (Additional DIG) Syed Harun-ur-Rashid said: “A team of APBn police conducted an operation on the information about the location of Arsa insurgents in the camp. Meanwhile, they (Arsa) fired at the police. The police also fired in self-defence. At this time, a Rohingya man was shot dead.”

“Later, the police identified the deceased as Arsa's top leader. There are multiple murder cases against him. The operation is ongoing, efforts are underway to arrest other miscreants,” he added.
