Record toll collection of 4.61C in 24hrs at Padma Bridge

Fifteen toll booths have been kept operational at both ends of the bridge for quick toll collection of vehicles

In the last 24 hours, 43,137 vehicles have crossed the Padma Bridge and total toll of Tk4,60,53,300 has been collected. 

This is the highest record ever on Padma Bridge, said the bridge authorities Wednesday morning. 

On July 8, 2022, the maximum toll of Tk4,19,39,650 was collected at Padma Bridge.

Bangabandhu Bridge has also created a new record in toll collection. Tk3,58,40,200 toll has been collected on Bangabandhu Bridge in the last 24 hours. 

At this time, 55,488 vehicles crossed over the bridge which has set a new record in the toll collection on Bangabandhu Bridge.

According to the bridge authorities, 43,137 vehicles have crossed the Padma Bridge in the last 24 hours. 29,897 vehicles crossed from Mawa end and 13,249 vehicles from Jazira end.

Fifteen toll booths have been kept operational at both ends of the bridge for quick toll collection of vehicles. Due to this, the vehicles are crossing the Padma Bridge in a fast time. 

Besides, there is a separate lane for the movement of motorcycles, so there is no disruption to the movement of other vehicles on the bridge.

Additional Director of Padma Bridge Side Office Amirul Haider Chowdhury said that there is extra traffic pressure at the Mawa end of Padma Bridge during Eid journey. However, there is no suffering anywhere. People of 23 districts of south-western region are able to travel smoothly through Padma Bridge.

He also said that every 5 seconds, 15 vehicles are crossing the Padma Bridge. According to that, every minute 180 vehicles are going on the bridge through toll.

Meanwhile, there is no traffic jam anywhere on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The highway police are monitoring the highway at various points including Baushia Pakhir Mor, Bhaberchar Bus Stand, Anarpura Bus Stand and Jamaldi Bus Stand.

In this regard, ASM Rashedul Islam, in-charge of Bhaberchar Highway police outpost, said: “There is no traffic jam anywhere, despite the heavy traffic on the road during Eid. We have mobile team, motorcycle team covering 13km area in Ghazaria.”
