Almost all the preparations have already been completed at National for the main congregation of Eid-ul-Azha, said Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.
There are also preparations in case of rain on the Eid day, said the mayor.
He said this while interacting with the media after inspecting the overall preparations for organizing the main congregation of Eid-ul-Azha at the National Eidgah Maidan on Tuesday afternoon.
Mayor Taposh said: "We are afraid of inclement weather in the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. So, today's (Tuesday) visit is to ensure that there will be no problem on Eid day. As it is raining today, prayer will surely be possible in light rain. We have received the information from the Meteorological Department that rain with storms is likely to occur on the day of Eid.
“Even if there is heavy rain or storm, we have made arrangements so that the devotees can attend the congregation properly. We have also taken measures to ensure that water does not fall anywhere and there will be no waterlogging situation,” said the mayor.
He also urged the Dhaka dwellers to complete sacrificing animals within two days for humanitarian reasons.
"I will make a humble request to everyone, so that the Qurbani activities are completed within two days on the day of Eid and the day after Eid. No animal should be left behind for the third day. We saw that many Qurabanis on the third day. It becomes difficult for us. We need to ensure rest for the workers involved in all the activities after 72 hours. They will be working continuously for 72 hours. So it becomes inhumane to make them work again.”
"We have made extensive preparations for the removal of the waste of the sacrificial animals. We will start the monitoring and waste removal program through the central control room from 2pm on the day of Eid,” said Taposh.
“We will use more than 350 vehicles and machinery to remove the waste. We will have about 10,000 manpower at the field level. We will supervise from the central control room,” the mayor added.
