Former NHRC chief Mizanur hospitalised

He is currently receiving medical attention at the ICU of Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in Dhaka city. The hospital's pulmonology specialist Dr Abdus Shakur Khan told Dhaka Tribune Mizanur was admitted to the hospital on Aug 11 with breathing problems. "He was taken to the ICU yesterday (Saturday) when his condition deteriorated," he said. While his condition was slowly improving, it could not immediately be said when he can be moved out of the ICU, the doctor added. On Saturday, the incumbent NHRC Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque visited him at the hospital, according to a press release from NHRC Public Relations Officer Farhana Syead on Sunday. During the visit Reazul inquired about Mizanur's health condition, urged the hospital to take proper care of him, and wished his predecessor a fast recovery. Mizanur, a professor and former chairman of Dhaka University's department of law, ended his tenure as the NHRC head on June 22 this year.
