The Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday issued a gazette notification on the extension of the Eid-ul-Azha holidays by one day to ease the journey of people going home for the festival.
It is said that the government has declared a general holiday on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha on Tuesday (June 27).
Emergency services will be out of purview of this holiday.
It also said that the Supreme Court and banks, insurance and other financial institutions will determine the holiday by their respective authorities.
The government on Monday extended the Eid ul Azha holidays by one more day.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Due to this decision, there will be a four-day holiday this Eid. Now the Eid holidays will be from June 27 to June 30.
The next day, July 1, falls on the weekend. As a result, this year's Eid holidays will be five days.
The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in Bangladesh on June 29.
The National Moon Sighting Committee announced it at a meeting held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital after the moon of the holy month Zilhaj was sighted in the sky of Bangladesh territory on Monday evening, sources said.
Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th day of Zilhaj.
Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on June 28 this year.
