State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said that 355,854 posts are vacant in various ministries and departments of the government.
He disclosed the information in response to MP Kazim Uddin Ahmed's question during the question and answer session of the Jatiya Sangsad on Monday.
The 23rd budget session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad for 2023-2024 fiscals began at 5.06pm with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
According to the information of the state minister, there are over 1.4 million sanctioned posts in public administration. Among them, over 1.04 million posts are filled.
Referring to the ongoing process of filling vacant posts in government offices, the state minister said that this process is going on properly. At present the recruitment process is going on in all the Ministries/Departments/Directorate to fill up the vacant posts.
Posts are usually left vacant due to regular retirement of employees and creation of new posts. In certain cases immediate fulfillment is not possible due to court injunctions, he further added.
