The Election Commission (EC) has cancelled the candidature of Aftab Hossain Khan, the councillor candidate of Ward No 7 in the Sylhet City Corporation election.
EC Secretary Md Jahangir Alam gave this information at his office in Nirbachan Bhaban on Wednesday.
The EC secretary said: “It is evident from the statement of the case, video footage and the statement of the candidate's lawyers that he has violated the code of conduct. That is why the Election Commission cancelled his candidature.”
