More rain, gusty winds in forecast across Bangladesh

Chittagong saw the most rainfall in the previous 24 hours

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places across Bangladesh as southwest monsoon advances covering five divisions, including Dhaka, said a met office forecast applicable for 24 hours from 9am on Sunday.

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions, and at one or two places over Rajshahi division, with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Sylhet division, said the bulletin.

A well-marked low-pressure area over northeast Bay and adjoining area has weakened into a low-pressure area and become unimportant, the forecast said.  

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department also predicted that the southwest monsoon may advance up to the rest of the country and rainfall activity may increase at the end of the period in the next 72 hours.  

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country, the forecast added. 

The country's highest temperature on Saturday was recorded at 36°C in Rajshahi and the lowest temperature on Sunday was 22.7°C in Golapganj.

The most rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am on Sunday was recorded at 62 millimetres in Chittagong.
