Severe heatwave may continue in 5 districts

Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded by 40.5°C at Rajshahi

The ongoing severe heatwave is likely to continue in five districts and mild to moderate heat wave in parts of the country, said a met office forecast on Saturday.

"Severe heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Jessore and Chuadanga. Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka and Barisal divisions and the rest parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the districts of Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Chandpur, Noakhali and Feni and it may continue," the release said.

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded by 40.5°C at Rajshahi and minimum temperature on Saturday was recorded by 24°C at Sylhet.

The sun will set at 6:43pm on Saturday and rise at 5:11am on Sunday in Dhaka.
