The national budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year proposes to decrease the price of sanitary napkins and diapers for babies.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed the exemption from the Value Added Tax (VAT) and supplementary duty (where applicable) on raw materials for sanitary pads and diapers.
He said: “I propose to extend the current period of exemption from Value Added Tax (Excluding AT) and Supplementary duty (where applicable) on import of certain raw materials used in the
production of sanitary napkins and diapers, for the protection of women and children, till June 30, 2024.”
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday unveiled a Tk7,61,785 crore proposed national budget for the 2023–24 fiscal year in the national parliament.
The proposed budget will be 15.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The budget size is likely to be Tk1,01,278 crore higher than the revised budget of Tk6,60,507 crore in the outgoing fiscal year.
