The government has proposed to allocate Tk1,26,272 crore for the social security program in the proposed budget for the FY24 despite rising inflation and soaring commodity prices.
This allocated budget for social security program is 16.58% of the total budget allocation and 2.52% of GDP.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday unveiled a Tk7,61,785 crore proposed national budget for the 2023–24 fiscal year in the national parliament.
According to the proposed budget, there will be an increase in the number of elderly recipients from 5.7 million to 5.8 million, along with a raise in the monthly allowance from Tk500 to Tk600.
