The first budget on the road to building a Smart Bangladesh is the budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024.
The finance ministry's press release on the budget informed that building a happy, prosperous and developed Smart Bangladesh is the main focus of this year's budget.
It is also said that the Awami League-led government has built the foundation of sustainable development in the last one and a half decades. In this continuation, Smart Bangladesh will be built, which will have four pillars – Smart Citizen, Smart Government, Smart Society and Smart Economy.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will present the budget to the National Assembly at 3pm on Thursday. A post-budget press conference will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 3pm on Friday.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will place the national budget of over Tk7,61,000 crore for the next fiscal year (FY24) at the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday with the main philosophy of turning Bangladesh into a happy-prosperous, developed Smart Bangladesh by 2041.
This will be the country's 52nd budget and the 24th of the Awami League government in five terms.
This budget will prioritize health, agriculture, food production and management side by side there will be various food-friendly programs throughout the year. Besides, the coverage of the social safety nets will also be increased.
