UIU, AIUB sign MoU for research collaboration

This MoU will promote collective research, high-quality publications in reputable journals and facilitate cooperative research opportunities between AIUB and UIU

United International University (UIU) and American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for research collaboration on Friday at UIU Campus in Dhaka.

UIU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Abul Kashem Mia and AIUB Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Abdur Rahman signed the MoU on behalf of their respective universities, reads a press release issued on Saturday. 

Prof Abdur Rahman was present at the signing ceremony as a chief guest while Prof Md Abul Kashem Mia was present as a special guest. 

Prof M Rezwan Khan, executive director of Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) and former VC of UIU, presided over the ceremony. 

Prof Raqibul Mostafa, dean of School of Science and Engineering, Prof Hamidul Huq, dean of School of Humanities and Social Sciences from the UIU, Prof Mohammed Jashim Uddin, head of research office, Prof Farheen Hassan, associate dean of Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) and additional director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Prof Mohammad Abdul Mannan, associate dean of Faculty of Engineering (FE), Prof Dip Nandi, associate dean of Department of Computer Science from the AIUB along with the head of the departments, faculty members, high officials and invited guests were present in the program. 

This MoU will promote collective research and high-quality publications in reputable journals, as well as facilitate cooperative research partnership opportunities between AIUB and UIU.

Research funds will be awarded to faculty members from both universities' research fields.

Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) of UIU with active financial support from the United Group, has taken the pioneering initiative to provide research and development (R&D) funds for the researchers to promote quality research activities in multidisciplinary research areas and spent more than Tk50 million since 2019. 

Additionally, UIU sponsored research funds and partnered with other national and international organizations. 

Currently, IAR distributes research funds twice a year and has more than 80 active research projects.
