Protests erupted across Bangladesh, including Keraniganj, denouncing the reported assault on a peaceful gathering organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the resulting injuries sustained by more than 50 leaders and activists, including Dhaka district BNP General Secretary Nipun Roy.

Following Friday prayers, a protest march was led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at Naya Paltan in the capital.

Addressing a brief rally at the conclusion of the march, Rizvi expressed strong condemnation and protest against the attack on the peaceful BNP rally in Keraniganj, which allegedly took place in the presence of the police.

He said: "Let it be known that the democratic movement of the BNP cannot be obstructed through such acts of violence."

Rizvi highlighted the nationwide awakening sparked by the democracy restoration movement led by BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

He affirmed that the movement would intensify in the future, aiming to overthrow Sheikh Hasina's government and establishing a non-partisan neutral government.

Rizvi further stated: "The upcoming national elections must be held under the auspices of a non-partisan neutral government and a caretaker administration."
