Bangladesh Shishu Academy on Thursday celebrated the 124th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The event was held with the theme “Agnibeenar Shatabarsha: Bangabandhu'r Chetanai Shanitarup” at 4pm, said a press release.
Md Hasanuzzaman Kallol, secretary, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
Chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Lucky Enam presided over the event.
Courtesy Md Hasanuzzaman Kallol said: "Some of the best poems in history have been written in Kazi Nazrul Islam's Agnibeena poetry book. ‘Bol Bir - Chiro Innot Shir' poem reminds one of Bangabandhu's words.”
Ratan Siddiqui, teacher, researcher, fellow of Bangla Academy was also present at the event as a speaker. He discussed the life, struggle and writings of Kazi Nazrul Islam in his speech.
Director General of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Anjir Liton said: "Agnibeena's centenary theme ‘Agnibeenar Shatabarsha: Bangabandhu'r Chetanai Shanitarup' mentions the sacrifice, brilliance and Bangabandhu brought us freedom with that sacrifice and brilliance.”
Prizes were also distributed among the winners of the essay and poetry recitation competition organized by Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
