Suspended Gazipur City Corporation mayor Jahangir Alam has claimed that his mother, Zayeda Khatun, an independent mayoral candidate in the GCC polls, has already secured her victory.
"My mother has won; I have contacted all the centres,” Jahangir told reporters at around 7:30pm on Thursday, with the official vote counting still underway.
He demanded the returning officer officially announce the results as soon as possible and asked why he was delaying it.
“I would ask the returning officer to give me the soft copies that came out of each machine. CCTV camera footage should also be provided if necessary.”
