Another case has been filed against Rajshahi district unit BNP Convener Abu Sayeed Chand for threatening to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Noakhali district unit Bangladesh Chhatra League's former deputy secretary of agriculture affairs Fazle Rabbi filed the case with the district's Chief Judicial Magistrate-1 Court on Thursday.
Senior Judicial Magistrate SM Mosleh Uddin Mizan took the case into consideration and ordered the accused to appear before the court on June 12, said the plaintiff's lawyer Hasan Shohag.
Meanwhile, a Rajshahi court on Thursday put BNP leader Abu Sayeed Chand on a five-day remand for questioning
Rajshahi Judicial Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order after the police presented him in court with a 10-day remand plea just a few hours after his arrest on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, a team of police from the Beripara check post arrested the Rajshahi district unit BNP convener while he was fleeing in a private car to hide.
Several cases have been filed against him in different police stations across Bangladesh.
However, he will be shown arrested in a case filed with the Puthia police station on Sunday.
On May 19, Abu Sayeed Chand threatened the prime minister at a public rally of metropolitan and district BNP at Shibpur High School ground in Puthia Upazila of Rajshahi as part of the central program.
"No more 27 or 10-point demand, just one point now – send Sheikh Hasina to the grave! We will do whatever is necessary to get Sheikh Hasina to resign,” he said.
A video of the threat went viral on social media, triggering a storm of protests among Awami League leaders and supporters
