The students of Kabi Nazrul Government College on Tuesday staged a demonstration to meet their 10-point demand, including introduction of college buses, abandon risky buildings and renovation of halls.
They protested at the main gate of the college from 10 am to 1pm.
A student named Afifa Akhtar Zidani said: "Our college does not have enough classrooms. There is no bus, there is no study environment, and the medical centre does not have enough facilities. I have been seeing all these problems since I joined this college. Although the college administration gave an assurance earlier, there was no solution.”
Another student named Shahriar said: "The saddest thing is that the college administration did not come to listen to us even after protesting for two hours."
The college unit Chhatra League President M Wasim Rana said: "All the demands of the students are reasonable. We will discuss with the college administration to fulfill and implement their demands.”
Vice-Principal Dr Khaleda Nasreen came to the road to stop the students' protest.
She urged the students to come inside the college without creating trouble on the road.
“We will listen to your demands and discuss in the academic council how to resolve them,” she added.
