Crystal meth worth 37C seized from Naikhongchari border

The seized drugs were kept at Cox's Bazar headquarters and a case was pending in this regard

A new drug, crystal meth, was entering Bangladesh through the border of Naikhongchari in Bandarban hill district. 

BGB seized seven packets weighing 7.396kg crystal meth left abandoned at Mayurer Bill while patrolling BOP area of Reju para BGB camp on the border.

At about 10:30pm on Wednesday, a special patrol of Reju para BOP of Ghumdhum union of Naikhongchari border under Cox's Bazar 34 BGB led by Commander Md Bipul Islam seized seven packets of crystal meth in an abandoned state without owners.

BOP Camp (BGB) Commander-in-charge Naik Md Vipul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday afternoon.

According to BGB sources, the market value of the seized crystal meth is Tk36.98 crore.

According to BGB sources, the seized drugs were kept at Cox's Bazar headquarters and a case was pending in this regard.

Sources said that for a long time, a gang has been bringing drugs from Myanmar through Naikhongchari and Alikadam border in Bandarban and supplying them to various districts of the country including Dhaka.
