Ex-mayor Jahangir's mother: Will ask people of all professions to vote for me

She noted that she wants to see how many people of Gazipur still love her, and her son

Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) former mayor Jahangir Alam's mother Zayda Khatun said that she will ask people of all profession to vote for her in the upcoming polls. 

"People are with me. When the campaign starts, I will go to all the wards. I will keep in touch with everyone and ask people of all professions to vote for me, she told reporters at her residence in Gazipur metropolis on Saturday. 

"I hope to get everyone's support," she added. Zayda Khatun's son Jahangir Alam was also present during the conversation.

She said: "A circle has kept my son in pain for 18 months by lying and making false statements about him. Everything has been looted from us. I am participating in this election to see how people love us. If I get elected, I will complete the remaining work of the city.”

On the same day Tongir's residence, Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Advocate Azmat Ullah Khan welcomed Jahangir Alam's mother and said: "I welcome any candidate."

Meanwhile, GCC mayoral candidate Advocate Azmat Ullah Khan, regarding the recently issued show-cause notice said: “My acceptance by the Election Commission has been proved by the letter. No code of conduct was violated by me. I have spoken to the concerned people including the police about the latest letter given to me.” 

“I will go to the Election Commission and will clear my position. A letter has been sent to me referring to two sections of the Election Code of Conduct 2016,” he added.

The Election Commission issued a show-cause notice against Advocate Azmat Ullah Khan for violating the electoral code of conduct on April 30.

The letter, signed by Election Commission Secretariat Senior Assistant Secretary Md Atiar Rahman, was sent to Azmat Ullah Khan.

Khan has been asked to go to the Election Commission office in person and give an explanation on Sundat, the letter said.
