A total of 46 policemen have received show-cause notices for not attending a reunion program organized by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq.
The program was organized on April 23, the day after Eid-ul-Fitr, at Rajarbagh Police Lines auditorium.
The letter seeks the reason why the policemen did not attend the reunion program.
Among the 46 policemen, 29 are of the rank of additional deputy commissioner and 17 are of the rank of assistant commissioner.
Some of them have already responded to the show-cause notice verbally, while some others are giving their reason in writing.
Some police officers, seeking anonymity, said during Eid holidays, policemen are mostly on duty, hence many could not attend the program after their shifts ended.
In this regard, DMP (Administration) Additional Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akhter said: "All DMP officials were invited to the Eid reunion event. Those who could not come to the event, have been asked to show their reasons. This is an internal matter of DMP. I do not think it is a matter to be disclosed in the media.”
