The Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Wednesday predicted a rise in temperatures by 1°C-2°C both during the day and night across the country over the next 24 hours.
This increase in temperatures coincides with a trough of low pressure that persists over West Bengal, stretching to North Bay, said the BMD in its daily weather forecast commencing at 9am.
As a result, weather conditions are likely to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies throughout the country, it added.
A mild heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Chittagong, Rangamati, Feni, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban and Patuakhali.
The met office warned that this heatwave may not only continue but also spread to other regions.
The country's highest temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 37.7°C in Bandarban, while Wednesday's lowest temperature was 19.2°C in Tetulia.
