The Ministry of Religious Affairs has given a one-day special opportunity for those who wish to go for Hajj this year but have not yet registered.
The ministry will open the Hajj registration server open on Tuesday, as the server was closed on April 11.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs said this is the last chance for people to register for Hajj this year.
According to the notification from the ministry, for the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh's (HAAB) April 16 letter and the special request of the Hajj pilgrims, the registration server will be open for one day on Tuesday for registration for the pilgrims of the government and private managements.
The notification also mentions that the pre-registration system will be opened for both public and private management, and once the quota is full, the registration server will automatically shut down.
This year, the quota was fixed at 127,198 to make the yearly pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Among them, 15,000 were supposed to travel as part of the government's Hajj program, while the rest of the pilgrims' travel was supposed to be organized by independently owned travel companies.
The registration period began on February 8 and ended on April 11, after eight extensions of the deadline.
The demand for registration decreased after the price of the Hajj package was increased by Tk150,000–Tk200,000, forcing the authorities to extend the registration deadline.
Just 119,695 pilgrims had signed up for the journey thus far.
Hajj will take place sometime around June 27, with the precise date based on the moon sighting.
